Some exciting news - ‘True to Ireland’ has now been printed in Ireland by Print Dynamics and is being distributed to bookshops throughout Ireland by Gill Distribution.
Rory Sweetman and I will be launching our respective books on Wednesday 11 September 2019 at Trinity College Dublin.
This will be followed on Friday September the 20th by the launch of my book in Moycullen, Galway. I am delighted to announce that Ciaran Cannon, the Minister of State and Minister for the Irish Diaspora will be present at the launch along with New Zealand’s Ambassador to Ireland, Brad Burgess and Ireland’s Ambassador to New Zealand, Peter Ryan.
The kiwi’s are also coming:
A number of my friends and relations from Aotearoa are coming to Ireland for both events and they will join the large contingent of Irish cousins who will be joining in the celebrations. Some of the NZers are the sons and daughters of the Sons of Eire and for us the book launches will be a very special pilgrimage. Both launches promise to be great events and a chance to showcase the strong historical links between Ireland and New Zealand.
On Saturday the 21st – after my launch - there will be a tour of some of the places in and around Galway which are mentioned in my book. On the Sunday we plan to take a trip to the Aran Islands (weather permitting).
In addition to the official launches, I am hoping to do some events in bookshops around Ireland.
The other news is that when in Ireland I am exploring the possibility of making a film about the book. Early days yet, but there is interest.
