Back in NZ book sales have been steady. I have undertaken a significant number of speaking engagements at genealogy and Irish society meetings around the country, and sales at these events have been good. I went to Melbourne to talk to a group of Irish historians at Melbourne University. Again a great night. There has been extensive promotion of 'True to Ireland' with articles in local newspapers and not long ago I was interviewed on Radio New Zealand. The book is on sale in most cities around the country and while it is a niche book, the uptake has been very good. The reviews have also been very positive, as has the feedback. The publicity has seen me receive about 80 emails from many people in New Zealand and overseas who have recognised a relative or a friend on the front page of the book. Others have shared their interesting stories about their own Irish folk in the early to mid-20th century. Hopefully this will lead to more people writing up their family history and adding to the richness of the Irish diaspora.
So finally thanks to all of you who have supported me in writing and launching True to Ireland. I feel another book or two coming on – we'll just have to wait and see.
